Are Manufactured Homes A Good Investment?

To choose modular or not to choose modular. That is the question! It’s a question that families have been wavering for decades with the same underlying interest in mind: is purchasing a modular home a good investment for your future?

We believe investing in a manufactured home can save you two precious resources – time and money. Let’s take a look at how below.

Quality Control of Modular Homes

There’s a high level of quality control when building within a factory setting. Because each house is being constructed within one facility, it is very easy for the foremen to go from one project to the next, ensuring they are overseeing the entire house build and helping to prevent and mitigate costly mistakes.

No Exposure to Elements

Additionally, manufactured homes are not exposed to the elements that can cause costly damage! If you’ve driven past construction sites in the past, you’ll often see building materials stored directly on the ground and not covered from the rain or snow. When built in a factory setting, you can rest assured that the building supplies used to build your house are all stored inside the factory, without being compromised by the elements.

Building modularly could save you money with tradespeople

For many of our rural customers, building a conventional stick built home is not the most cost efficient choice simply due to where they live. If you reside a couple hours away from an urban setting, you will often be charged a premium for tradespeople to drive out to your site (assuming there aren’t any local trades for your build). When building a stick built house, this could be the case, which means the homeowner is already paying a higher price simply because of where they live. If you opt to build modular, you don’t need to worry about paying a premium on the house based on the final destination.

Built to Last

Did you know that manufactured and modular homes last as long as stick built homes? Please note, this is based on the assumption that the homeowner is maintaining their regular home maintenance. You can have peace of mind knowing you’re investing in a long-term home – not something that’s going to be subject to structural issues within a few years!

Building Speed: Time is money!

Save time now so you can spend it later. Life is too short to spend waiting on your home to be built (in some cases over the span of a year)!

It’s possible to have a modern modular home delivered to you within just three short months. That means you can spend time doing what really matters, like making memories with your family.

How do mortgages and insurance work for manufactured homes?

The same as a stick built home, of course! You don’t pay a premium or get different insurance or mortgages simply because you live in a modular home. You can still build your dream home, customize your options, have it delivered quickly and use traditional banking to help bring your dream to life.

Busting Modular Myths

There’s a common misconception that manufactured homes aren’t as highly sought after, but that simply isn’t true. They are built to the same building codes and standards as their stick built counterparts. Don’t worry, when and if you’re ready to sell your manufactured home, the resale value is the same as stick-built and is dependent on a number of factors, such as location.

Manufactured homes don’t have to be one level either. Did you know that manufactured homes can have a basement or crawlspace? Or, if you prefer, it can be placed over engineered steel piles.

Investing in your future with a modular home

As you can see above, modular homes are equally as good of an investment as stick built homes. It’s important to ask yourself what matters most when making the decision between the two.
